Speech Therapy

Diagnoses, symptoms, and conditions we treat:
The first part of our Speech Therapy program focuses in helping people with speech disorders, word association problems and cognitive impairments effecting communication. We perform a variety of reasoning and cerebral tests to best identify you or your loved ones specific deficiency and the root cause of that deficiency. A specific care plan is then put together with different exercises and activities to target those deficiencies.
The second part of our Speech Therapy program focuses in helping people with swallowing issues or difficulty with eating food and drinking liquids. These problems usually happen due to a type of neurological disorder, neurological disease or trauma such as stroke, ALS, traumatic brain injury, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and Muscular Dystrophy. The level of impairment with your swallowing can be determined by certain swallow studies. The speech therapist, in coordination with your physician will implement a care plan based on level of impairment of you or your loved ones swallowing disorder. This therapy focuses on increasing muscle strength and muscle use of those muscles that help you chew and swallow with specific exercises and activities. Our speech therapist will also help with strategies on how to eat your food as well as recommending diets with softer foods or thicker liquids.
